When the guys came out everyone went nuts. Especially me and the girls I was sitting with, we were shoved in the corner, but that didn't stop us! We were bananas! At one point, Joe and I made eye contact and I gave him a wink and a point...he gave one right back. I pretty much died and thought THAT was going to be the highlight of the day. Boy was I wrong. They kept talking about the album then they showed the "Single" video. Now when I tell you Jon is the cutest thing, he really is. They played the video on the big jumbo screen overlooking Times Square and Jon was amazed by it. He said to the rest of the guys, "hey look our video is out there." They were all watching, but Jon looked so proud! It is probably, to this day, one of my favorite New Kids moments.
After all the guys were supposed to leave Donnie stayed behind to talk to the fans. It got kinda quiet so my future best friend, Jess and I screamed out "FACE TIME!!!!", he laughed and pointed and waved me over. Well...I THOUGHT he waved me over. I start to walk over and he says, "no, not you." FAIL! I was embarrassed, but then he covered and called me back over. I ran over and he gave me the biggest hug, then the rest of the girls I was sitting with came over and we had a group hug...adorable. We were on a platform, and he was one the floor, so my chesticles were around his eye level. This man practically motorboated me. Wellllll helloooooo Donnie Wahlberg. After the guys left, we all wanted to get the hell out of there. The other girls were heading to Best Buy and I wanted to go home. This is where I lost all will power (and never got it back). They talked me into trying to go get a wristband for the CD signing. How could I pass that up?
After TRL, I ran (literally ran...in flip flops...in NYC heat) to Best Buy to get my bracelet for the signing. Thank God I did. Jess and I became buddies while we waited and are now best friends. Love you Jess!
Jess and I with friends in line.
Donnie was first and he gave me the biggest bear hug and said...no no whispered..."How you doin' baby?" and gave me a kiss on the
cheek!
Holy hell, I almost died right there. Then I was pushed (yes pushed) by
a Best Buy man to move along. Next was Jon, who was so nice. We
chatted and he was
just so appreciative to be there. I loved him. I pointed out to him that he had marker all over his arm. He laughed and pointed to Donnie, saying "this guy." Clearly the man was a little too happy with the marker. He got Danny's attention and showed him...the moment was captured!
Laughing with Jon and Danny as Joe looks on in jealousy.
Speaking of Danny, he was next. He ended up telling the man who kept pushing me to stop, because he was literally
pushing me off my feet
to move me along. I said thank
you, shook his hand and moved on. Joe was next (now many of you reading now know me as a Joe girl...and I am, but on this day? I was a Jordan girl. I loved that man for 20 years. I was too excited. I had a short conversation, but kept looking at Jordan. I was getting nervous.) I shook Joe's hand and I moved to the grand finale of Jordan
Knight. Boy
needed an attitude adjustment. I told him I was a big fan and asked for
a hug, the dude ROLLED HIS EYES and finally gave in. This was no joking
eye roll, this
was a "not this again" eye roll. I was over it in about 2 seconds when I
thought back to all the other guys, but still.
I was crushed. 20 years down the drain. (*sigh* Looking back this is SUCH a minor incident, that all is forgiven and I love him again!)**Edit- During a recent chat with Mr. Knight the eye rolling incident has been forgiven. He says he didn't roll his "God damn" eyes at me. (Told you I would edit!)**
